Folks very different in the height department sometimes don't fit on a tandem together.

Our tallest tandem fits a 6'2" captain (person in front) and our smallest stoker (person in back) compartment fits someone 4'9" (with a 24" inseam). Our smallest tandem fits a captain of about 5'6". We've been known to block pedals to fit small fries who are just a hair too small onto the back of a tandem. So assume that we CAN make a tandem fit your duo!

hybrids (what you get if you cross a mountainbike and a road bike) The perfect bike for riding the rolling roads of Prince Edward County. Light? So light! Dirt roads? Sure. Pavement? Anytime. Climb easily? YOU BET! Hybrids: the best of both worlds.

A hybrid has 700C wheels like most road bikes. These wheels roll faster on the road. [OK, There are some mountainbikes with 700C wheels too but that's another story! (don't get me started!)] From the mountain bike side of the family the hybrid gets it's easy shifting system, comfortable cockpit, flat handlebar riding position and light-touch V-brakes.

The tires are a little knobbier & fatter than road bike tires - but they go up to a higher pressure than mountainbike tires. So they can handle a little gravel and still fly along the blacktop.

What does this mean to you, the rider? It means a comfortable bike that's easy and fun to ride with wheels that roll along even faster than you thought you could. All women who rent bikes at the BBC get women specific saddles installed.

KHS Urban Express. Hi-rise handlebar, 21 speed indexed Shimano drivetrain. Alloy rims mean confidence to brake in the wet. Ladies style available.

Don't be afraid. It's not scary. Just different.

Ahh, cycling. No pressure on your hands or your wrists ... a full panoramic view, and oooh, that seat! They're light. They're fun ... and they're not hard to ride. It often takes a few pedals strokes before that twitchy feeling goes away ... but once you've got your shoulderes relaxed back into that chair and you've got your feet goin' round it feels like you're riding a low-rider barca-lounger with wheels.

What a hoot for a few days riding around. You never know. You could fall in love with that altered riding position. It's the best butt workout in town.

Our Maxarya recumbents fit everyone 4'10" through 6'5".

Road bikes | the ferrari, the racehorse, the cheetah of the cycling world. If you think skinny, high pressure tires, drop bars, STI shifting and featherweight bikes aren't for you ... try one of our titanium LITESPEED road demons. When we first opened Rick's fantasy was to rent titanium road bikes. We try to fulfill all bicycle fantasies!

GO FAST> GO VERY FAST seriously fast!

A road bike has 700C wheels: tall and fast rolling. It also has skinny tires that pump up to a very high pressure (100lbs) - rough for riding but made for SPEED not comfort.

Modern road bikes are equipped with an STI system - where the shifters are part of the brake lever mechanism. It sounds complex but is SO EASY once you ride it. No moving your hands to shift. No shifting body weight just as you need to be on the gears.

What does this mean to you, the rider?
It means a relaxed ride that's easy and
fun to charge down the roadside on.

Road bikes come with two or three front chainrings and bigger gears than a mountain bike or a hybrid. They have their signature "drop bars" for an aerodynamic position that allows road riders to KNIFE through the atmosphere. This is not the CCM Targa you rode in school. This is rebirth of ZOOM ... push down on pedal .... bike goes ZOOM. (clipless pedals available of course!!)

Trail-a-bikes | turn any bike into a bicycle built for two! add this wonderful "half-bike" onto the back of any traditional bike and your little one can ride along with you ...

Love riding your bike with your family ... but the little ones can't keep up? Or maybe your young cyclist is great on the quiet roads at home but isn't quite ready to not veer out into busier traffic? Then a Trail-a-bike is for you!

We've been renting these great little devices for the last seven years and we love 'em. The attachment easily fits onto any seatpost (we have different sized shims to make sure it can fit on ANY seatpost). The smaller rider can coast or pedal as they see fit. Some of these great little devils even have gears!!

Trail-a-bikes fit onto virtually all traditional bicycles. They don't fit well onto tiny frames or on bikes that don't have enough seatpost exposed, and the hitch does not fit onto carbon fibre moulded seatposts at all. But otherwise we've never found one that won't fit. The weight limit is 85lbs.

For a really wonderful sight consider attaching a trail-a-bike to a tandem and enjoy your day on a bicycle built for THREE!

Trailers | pull your treasures behind you! Simple to attach, safe as houses and ready to roll with you and the small load of your choice.

We are proud to rent and sell Burley Trailers. They are hugely dependable and terrific. You can tell that the folks who are designing these things actually use them. You can tell by the way they perfectly pack and ship them, alone!

Why a trailer and not a baby seat on my bike?
A question we have answered at length in our articles section.

The D'Lite is Burley's top of the line child trailer. It's tough enough to carry 100lbs and wide enough to hold two rowdy kids, everybody's gear, and more. Generally kids need to have strong enough neck muscles to hold up their head with a helmet to ride in one of these beauties. But if you want to take along babies younger than that, you can strap their car carrier right into the trailer ... and you're off!

These trailers can be attached easily to almost all bikes. They are often in demand for rental so make sure you reserve in advance - especially if you need one one an a weekend.

They're so easy to hook up and use that our nine-year-old paperboy used to borrow one every week to deliver on Saturday.

The Burley Nomad cargo trailer weighs fourteen pounds and can hold up to one hundred pounds of cargo. The wheels are alloy and the material is heavy duty enough to handle long haul tourists and all their myriad gear. If you're planning on touring or carrying anything particlarly bulky we really recommend these little beauties! You won't even notice this trailer is there.
(Okay, with 100lbs of groceries in it, you'll notice!) :)
