is a loose organization of a bunch of cycling fools that like to ride and do bike like things together. Everyone is welcome to join us. Membership is only $25.

that price hasn't gone up in TWENTY-FIVE YEARS!

What do you get for membership? a great discount program. As soon as you're a member you will get a 10% discount on everything. Depending on the amount you spend at the shop, the amount of time you put in doing trail work, the number of years you've been a member and the amount of time you put in volunteering your discount will go up! Some longterm members are at a 30% discount! You also get special prices on some items (club members only pay $2 for snacks and get club jerseys at greatly reduced prices)!

preferential access to mechanics and our workshop. Club members may use our shop and our tools to work on their own bikes (depending on how busy we are, of course!). Technical instruction and reassuring noises from qualified mechanics are also available ... Minor maintenance and adjustments by our expert mechanics are free for club members.

a club account. Don't have the cash with you for that extra tube for the ride today - or didn't plan on buying a new rim after the ride? As a club member you "have an account" at the bike shop. Tabs are available for the length of the season and need to have payments made each month and be completely cleaned up before November 1st every year. New bikes can also be put "on your tab" but 50% of the bike must be paid before you can take it away with you.

bike loans. Club members are our best bicycle missionaries! We want you to be able to ride with your friends and convince tham that bikes will save the world so we let bike club members "borrow" rental bikes for friends and family that want to go for a ride. Your aunt always wanted to try a tandem? Your cousin Fred coming down on Tuesday and you want to show him the trails? Babysitting the nephew and want to try out a trail-a-bike? Give us a call in advance and we'll have it ready for you.

The Bloomfield Bicycle Club hosts six club rides a week. Club membership is not required to attend club rides (there's enough fun for everyone!!). Helmets are required. Riders under 12 should bring their own older folk along for moral support.

club RIDE weekly schedule

SUNDAY 11AM, the beginner mtb ride
Meet at the Bloomfield Bicycle Company for our easiest off-road ride. (formerly known as the "chic" ride) We wind along the rail line and through lovely woods and trails at Macaulay Mountain. If the trails are muddy we'll enjoy the Millennium Trail. No off-road experience necessary. Three hours at least, for 25 or so kilometers.
MONDAY 8:30AM, intermediate MTB ride
Meet at the Macaulay Mountain parking lot for our medium paced off-road ride. Explore the more technical green (beginner) and red (intermediate) trails on "the hill". Some off-road experience is required. We sometimes do coffee and pastries in Picton afterwards. We ride about 15-20kms of trails and usually not for more than two hours.
MONDAY 6:00PM, Easy Cruise road ride
Meet at the Bloomfield Bicycle Company for an entry level Road Ride. Enjoy a lovely spin around some quiet roads of an evening. All riders welcome, mountain bikes are fine too. We're always back by Dark. We ride about twenty-five kilometers and it usually takes us about two hours, so we're cruising just below 20km/hr and 25km/hr. Derek leads this ride.
TUESDAY 6:00PM, happy,easy road ride
Meet at the Bloomfield Bicycle Company for an relaxed Road Ride. Enjoy a lovely spin around some quiet roads of an evening. Hybrids and Road bikes welcome, mountain bikes are fine too, but we could loan you a more road-friendly beastie if you like. We're always back by Dark. We ride about forty kilometers and it usually takes us about two hours, so we're cruising between 20km/hr and 25km/hr.
WEDNESDAY 6:00PM, moderate road ride
Meet at the Bloomfield Bicycle Company for a road ride that is a little faster than Tuesday but not quite as fast as the Thursday road ride. We'll cruise somewhere between 24km/kr and 28km/hr for as long as the light will allow. Sometimes the Big Island Route sometimes an adlib with the wind.
THURSDAY 6:00PM, fast road ride
Meet at the Bloomfield Bicycle Company. Fast riders ...bring out your road bikes, clip in and push off for some pretty long, fast rides. When the sun goes down late this ride sometimes goes until 10PM: but usually it's three or four hours and seventy to eighty kilometers; pacelines are often present. The pace pushes 35km/hr when they are smokin' but you'll need to be able to maintain 30km/hr on your own to keep up. Rick leads this ride (unless Peter is in town)

SATURDAY 11:00AM, Rick's hard MTB ride
Meet at the 11am Bloomfield Bicycle Company to ride the rail line to the trails, or meet at Noon at the Macaulay Mountain Parking Lot for our longest, hardest off-road ride. We'll conquer ALL the trails at Macaulay and go back for another couple of laps more. Usually thirty kilometers or so and at least three hours of riding. Experienced mountainbikers only. First lap: intro. Second lap:shaking the tree. Third lap: warp speed. Rick leads this ride.

Bloomfield Bicycle Weekly Club Rides in the spring only happen when the weather allows. After the May 24 Long Weekend rides will happen like clockwork (in occurrence, not punctuality or organizational wise!) every week, until Labour Day. Then they happen on nice days, mostly, again, until we close October 31, 2009.

If it is raining at the start time of any ride, we won't ride. Riding at Macaulay Mountain within 24 hours of rain is discouraged, especially in rainy years (like this one, 2009).

Follow the Club on Facebook for up to the minute ride status and photos!

You can follow all the news about rides etc. on our facebook club site ... drop by!

As many of you know we've been hosting Centuries on the long weekends for the last few years. We're lovin' it and we're doin' it again this year. We provide maps for each person on the ride, and a leader who knows their way around the County.

the bloomfield bicycle CLUB can be found ...

strangely enough, at the bloomfield bicycle company, a bike shop (in commonly agreed upon reality) located at the center of our particular universe with co-ordinates of:

225 Main Street, P.O.Box 78, Bloomfield, Ontario, K0K 1G0, Canada

the phone system still reaches our outpost at: 613.393.1060. Our friend Steve at County Magazine will receive faxes for us at 613.393.3960. We are physically open from April 1 through October 31 but are electronically available all year round. Feel free to drop us an email.

Or, just to keep up with those pesky Joneses, follow the Group "Bloomfield Bicycle Club" on facebook.
